2026-2927 Season Opening
The Club’s Opening Day on Sunday 27 Sept was well supported by members with around 60 bowlers and family members attending despite the gloomy weather forecast.
The rain stayed away and allowed a full program, commencing with the opening bowl of the new season put down by our new Patron John O’Meehan, and a second commemorative bowl delivered by life member Wendy O’Meehan using one of the late Glenys Moulton’s bowls. Members participated in a sweep on how close the 2 opening bowls came to the jack. The sweep winners were a tie $20 each to Rob Kelly and Lindsay Richardson on John OMeehan’s opening bowl (107cm from jack). Neil Davis won the second sweep on Wendy OMeehan’s bowl (101cm from jack – closer of course). Bowlers then spread around the rink for a spider, won by John MacCormack ($40).
Following the light hearted start, 7 rinks of fours battled it out. Given it was a family day, rinks were selected on family lines, with no break ups subsequently reported. Bowls winners
