We welcomed 36 teams to Gala Day this year, losing several at the last minute due to ill health, injury and maybe the forecast Perth temperature of 39 degrees making Lyn Worland’s and Robyn Gillon’s jobs very difficult indeed.
Dr. Bob Noll from the Cottesloe National Skin Cancer Centre addressed the ladies and presented the prize monies to the winners, Leeming (Pictured above), and the runner’s up, Kardinya, and we thank him for his very generous sponsorship of the day.
We gave away rink and spot prizes during the course of play and we concluded with lucky cards draws so plenty of the players left with a little extra money in their wallets.
The generosity of all members, sponsors and local businesses enabled us to have over 35 monster raffle prizes, two pots of golds, money sheets, fifty bottles of wine and a bowls bag which was donated by Vanessa from Aero Bowls World Balcatta.
As is always the case, our ladies, guided by Alison Tilt (Convenor) and Robyn Gillon (match captain), worked tirelessly both on the day and in the lead up producing amazing things for all our stalls. The wonderful variety of salads etc. we always produce again delighted our guests many of whom suggesting we put together a simple salad recipe book; however maybe we will be reluctant to give away our secrets!
Thank you too for huge contribution from the army of men who so willingly helped with the heavy work and the many other tasks given them and who were so ably lead by Barry Ireland.
To this point we are unsure of the extent of financial success of the day but we do know that the club will benefit greatly as was indicated by the first banking of monies.
Whilst it was great fun many of us agreed afterwards that it is good that we now have another twelve months before we go through it all again!
